For Foundations and Philanthropic Advisors
NBF helps fulfill your racial equity mission
New Breath Foundation is a community-led public foundation. Founded by Eddy Zheng, the first formerly incarcerated “juvenile lifer” to lead a philanthropic foundation, we mobilize resources to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities directly impacted by mass incarceration, deportation, and violence in the U.S.
A central part of our mission is working to change how traditional philanthropy operates by putting theory to praxis. We are organizers and directly impacted leaders who are building a community of funders and donors committed to providing hope and healing to AANHPIs facing violence, incarceration, and deportation.
Partner with us for a more equitable future
Cross-racial and cultural engagement is a founding value of New Breath Foundation and an ongoing practice in everything we do.
NBF centers the AANHPI community, specifically in relation to incarceration, deportation, and violence. The lived experiences of our founder, advisors, and communities inform us that true racial justice can only happen when we stand together in solidarity with all communities of color. NBF grantees are grassroots organizations deeply focused on cross-racial solidarity by building authentic relationships and interactions with other communities of color in their areas.
